Antique French Sewing Egg

Antique French Sewing Egg. A fascinating little sewing tool, these eggs were used to hold thimbles and to keep threads tidy as one end could be threaded through a pierced section and allowed to unravel inside the egg. This example is a resin or melamine moulded replica of hand-carved Bavarian style wooden sewing eggs. Circa 1900.

Size approx. 7 cm (H) x 4 cm (D)

Overall very good condition. Some wear and discolouration due to age, and a small crack near middle join. See images for details.
