Antique French L'Illustration Bound Newspaper Archive 1917 - 1926. Incredible collection of original Parisian newspapers, preserved by unique binding. A remarkable piece of history. Deep burgundy leather spines with gold name and year. Endpapers are beautifully marbled.

Each year is divided into two volumes January - June (1) and July - December (2). Each volume is sold seperately. Photos are examples of pages inside, each volume is unique.

Inside is news, current affairs, fashion and cartoons, mostly in black and white, but with a few colour pages. There is a wide range of art and culture including prints of famous artworks and reviews of theatre, ballet and opera. 

L'Illustration was a weekly French newspaper published in Paris from 1843 to 1944. It was founded by Édouard Charton with the first issue published on 4 March 1843, it became the first illustrated newspaper in France then, after 1906, the first international illustrated magazine; distributed in 150 countries. In 1891, L'Illustration became the first French newspaper to publish a photograph.

Size: 40 cm (L) x 30 cm (W) Each volume varies in number of pages, and thus thickness of the bound volume is different for each.

All spines and edges have wear and tear from use. Inside pages may have creases and small tears.
