Antique Parisienne Louis XV Bench Seat. Beautiful Louis XV style carved wooden legs and delicate floral motifs. Original floral needlepoint upholstery with metal buttoning, and painted finish with beautiful layers of chipped paint creating a unique patina.
Metal maker's plate nailed to underside reads "Gouffe - 46 ,48, 50 Faubourg St Antoine, Paris". Maison Gouffe Jeune was a well known furniture maker located in the 12th arondissement of Paris from the late 1800s up until the building was destroyed during WWII.
Fabric has faded and shows signs of wear and discolouration due to age, fabric underside has torn sections - see photos for details.
