Antique French pair of round plates. Beautiful transfer design of flowers and leaves. Circa 1890.
Stamped with "Terre de Fer. H.B. & Cie. Andree. P.F." Terre de fer is a fine earthenware similar to porcelain.
Hippolyte Boulenger (1836-1892) took over his family's ceramics factory in Choisey-le-Roi 1863 and renamed it H. Boulenger & Cie. He transformed it into a company with an international reputation, exhibiting at the great world's fairs. In 1889 he opened a store in Paris. His sons succeeded him, and continued the business until it closed during the Great Depression in 1934.

Very good condition. Some discolouration due to age and small sections of imperfect glaze due to the handmade nature of the pieces. Small chip on underside of rim.
